Here at Wapping broadcast we have 24/7/365 Transmission Suite. Our Transmission Suite is manned 24 hours a day every day of the year by a TX professional. Transmission is the Fault Reporting Centre and provides all of our services with 24 hour monitoring.
Transmission can liaise with Galleries both in-house and off-site when dealing with live broadcast, as well as play out pre-recorded content.
Our TX department also includes a transfer suite. This is staffed 11:00 to 23:00 but can be accessed at additional times on request. Transfer provides the capability for all aspects of ingest, compliance recording, scheduling, aspect ratio converting, striping/blacking of tapes, duplications between: - Digital Beta, DvCam,Mini DV, DVCPro, Beta SP,D9,DVD, VHS and CD and encoding and transfer of, QuickTime, and Mpeg files.
We have 2 facility lines going in and out of Wapping Broadcast to BT Tower.
Wapping Broadcast can provide dual and diverse ASI delivery of the channel to BT Tower, in the event that satellite capacity and uplink facilities operated from BT Tower are selected. This network architecture employs BT's slipless switching technology such that in the event of a failure of one route, the 2nd route is automatically selected for transmission and no break is detected.
We also have Arqiva lines used for play out.
There are 2 diverse routes of mains electricity into Wapping. Should these fail the UPS system will engage providing enough time for the diesel generator to automatically switch in. The generator is fuelled to provide power for 20 hours and extra spare fuel is kept on site.
